Wales coach Warren Gatland rules centre Gavin Henson out of the World Cup in New Zealand with injury.

Wales coach Warren Gatland has confirmed that Gavin Henson will play no part during the World Cup.

The 29-year-old centre dislocated his right wrist during Wales’ 19-9 victory over England earlier this month and was told at the time that he would be out of action for eight weeks.

However, during the announcement of Wales’ 30-man squad for the tournament in New Zealand, Gatland revealed that Henson’s chances of participation had vanished.

"Gavin's not available,” said the coach. "Gavin's out for 12 weeks so he's not going to be available at any stage in the World Cup."

Henson was also not selected for the previous World Cups in 2003 and 2007.
