Sam Warburton will play no part in Wales's Six Nations match with Italy due to a knee injury.

Wales captain Sam Warburton will miss his side's Six Nations clash with Italy after being ruled out with a knee injury.

Head coach Warren Gatland has confirmed that the 23-year-old flanker will play no part in the match.

Warburton has been replaced by Justin Tipuric, while Jamie Roberts has been declared fit along with Matthew Rees, who returns at hooker.

Gatland has announced that 31-year-old Gethin Jenkins will captain the side in Warburton's absence.

Wales: Halfpenny, Cuthbert, Davies, Roberts, North, Priestland, Phillips, G Jenkins (capt), Rees, A Jones, A W Jones, Evans, Lydiate, Tipuric, Faletau.
Replacements: Owens, James, Charteris, R Jones, L Williams, Hook, S Williams
