Wales coach Shaun Edwards sends out Ireland warning

Shaun Edwards insists that Wales will be "a lot more competitive" when they take on Ireland in Dublin later this month, compared to Saturday's showing.

Shaun Edwards has warned Ireland that they will face a tougher test when Wales travel to Dublin later this month.

An experimental Red Dragons side suffered a 35-21 defeat on home soil this weekend in their opening Rugby World Cup warm-up clash.

Despite the heavy loss, defence coach Edwards believes that by the time the reverse meeting comes around on August 29, his side will be in a far better shape.

"We were never planning to peak on August 8 in a rugby sense," he told BBC Sport. "It probably would have been a little bit different if we had played a more experienced team. Come the return fixture, we would like to think we will be a lot more competitive."

Wales handed debuts to Eli Walker, Tyler Morgan, Ross Moriarty and Dominic Day in the Millennium Stadium defeat.
