Ryan Jones major doubt for Wales tour of South Africa

Ryan Jones picks up an injury in Bristol Rugby's match against London Irish to become a major doubt for Wales's tour of South Africa next month.

Bristol Rugby forward Ryan Jones is a major doubt for Wales's tour of South Africa next month following the news that he is likely to undergo ankle surgery.

The 33-year-old former Wales captain sustained suspected ligament damage during Bristol's loss to London Welsh on Wednesday night.

Jones will be assessed later today, but club officials expect that the player will require an operation, according to BBC Sport.

As well as representing Wales, Jones has also featured three times for the British and Irish Lions.
