Connacht inflict first defeat on Toulouse

Toulouse lose for the first time in the Heineken Cup this season, going down 16-14 to Connacht.

Toulouse have been beaten in the Heineken Cup for the first time this season, losing 16-14 to Connacht.

Dan Parks put the visitors ahead early on through a penalty and a drop goal as both sides struggled to create try-scoring opportunities.

However, Jean-Pascal Barraque gave the French team a narrow lead just before the break when he smashed his way through for the opening try of the match.

Connacht regained the lead shortly after the restart as Kieran Marmion forced his way over following a blistering run from Robbie Henshaw.

The home side pressed hard to get back into the match and were rewarded when captain Thierry Dusautoir was able to ground the ball following a rolling Toulouse maul, leaving his team two points behind.

However, the visitors defended well for the final 15 minutes to make sure that Toulouse could not add to their score further, ending their unbeaten start to the competition in the process.
