Team News: Smit to lead South Africa against Australia

South Africa captain John Smit will return to the Springboks' starting lineup for this weekend's World Cup quarter-final match against Australia.

The skipper, who will be joining Aviva Premiership side Saracens after the tournament, replaces Bismarck du Plessis.

Backs JP Pietersen and Bryan Habana will also start the match after recovering from injuries, but second row Bakkies Botha will miss the rest of the tournament with an Achilles injury.

"Certainly it's quite an experienced team, but it only really counts if we can get the business done on Sunday," said Smit.

The champions are unbeaten in the tournament so far, but were pushed hard by Wales who lost by just one point in their pool match.

South Africa: Pat Lambie, JP Pietersen, Jaque Fourie, Jean de Villiers, Bryan Habana, Morne Steyn, Fourie du Preez, Pierre Spies, Schalk Burger, Heinrich Brussow, Victor Matfield, Danie Rossouw, Jannie du Plessis, John Smit (captain), Gurthro Steenkamp

Replacements: Bismarck du Plessis, CJ van der Linde, Willem Alberts, Francois Louw, Francois Hougaard, Butch James, Gio Aplon
