Scotland expect prop Jon Welsh to be sidelined for the rest of the Six Nations with a fractured hand.

Scotland prop Jon Welsh is expected to miss the rest of the Six Nations with a fractured hand.

The 28-year-old suffered the problem during his side's 26-23 defeat at home to Wales on Sunday.

"Jon Welsh sustained a fracture to his hand and will require surgery later in the week. He is expected to be unavailable for the remainder of the RBS 6 Nations championship," read a statement from the Scottish Rugby Union.

Gordon Reid and Sam Hidalgo-Clyne will be monitored after the pair sustained head injuries, while Richie Gray is to undergo a scan on his upper arm later today.

The Scots continue their Six Nations campaign on February 28 when they welcome Italy to Murrayfield.
