Ryan Wilson suspended for three months without pay

Scotland forward Ryan Wilson is suspended for three months without pay after being convicted for assault.

Glasgow Warriors and Scotland forward Ryan Wilson has been suspended for three months without pay after being convicted of assault.

Wilson was found guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court of assaulting two men, including a fellow rugby player, during a night out in October.

The incident took place in a takeaway shop in Glasgow on Halloween, when Wilson was alleged to have attacked Glasgow Hawks player Ally Maclay.

The 25-year-old was initially suspended indefinitely by the Scottish Rugby Union pending an investigation, and he has now been banned for three months without pay.

Wilson's Warriors teammates Ryan Grant and Rory Hughes were also charged with a part in the assault, but were cleared by the court.

None of the players involved were included in Scotland's squad for the upcoming Six Nations by head coach Vern Cotter, but Wilson's suspension does finish four weeks before the World Cup begins.
