Vern Cotter: 'Scotland must not seek revenge against Australia'

Cotter: 'Scotland must not seek revenge against Australia'

Scotland head coach Vern Cotter has claimed that his side must avoid falling into the "trap" of looking for revenge against Australia.

The Wallabies visit Murrayfield on Saturday, a year on from when Bernard Foley's controversial late penalty sealed a 35-34 win over the Scots in their World Cup quarter-final match.

"It's another game - it's a year on," Cotter told BBC Sport. "One of those traps you can fall into is work on the principle of revenge.

"We're not preparing for the same team. They've changed, their profile has changed. We can't go and do what we did a year ago.

"They've moved on a lot since then. They've put 30 points on Wales. They're coming here with a lot of confidence."

Australia reached the World Cup final last year, losing 34-17 to New Zealand at Twickenham Stadium.
