Graham Henry has said that he is considering legal action after comments he made at a fundraising dinner were reported in the New Zealand press.

Comments relating to marijuana, Australian fly-half Quade Cooper and New Zealand's World Cup performance were reported by the local media and then distributed to the national press.

World Cup-winning coach Henry said that his comments were meant to be in jest and that he was assured that he was speaking off the record.

"I said at the time it wasn't for publication and I don't know how it got into the papers," Henry said.

"I asked the people running it that there be no reporters.

"I've now put it in the hands of my solicitor."

Henry stood down as All Blacks coach following their 2011 World Cup victory.
