Brian O'Driscoll praises Irish fans

Ireland centre Brian O'Driscoll has said that the Irish support was key to their memorable victory over Australia in Auckland.

The Irish defeated the Wallabies 15-6 thanks to a rousing display from the front line which prevented the Australians scoring a single second-half point.

"That was the performance we knew we had in us," O'Driscoll, who is Ireland's all-time leader in tries and appearances, said after the game.

"You swear we're in Dublin with that crowd. They gave us absolutely incredible support and it was our job to give them something to shout about and thankfully we managed to do that.

"We knew we had to dig deeper than we had done in these last five games."

Ireland will now be favourites to progress from Pool C in first place as they have to face Russia and Italy in their remaining two games.

"It's half the job done, that's two wins and there's still two more to get," O'Driscoll added.

They next face World Cup debutants Russia on Sunday, September 25.
