Rob Kearney to undergo scan

Ireland full-back Rob Kearney will undergo a scan after picking up a gluteal strain during the win over Romania at the Rugby World Cup.

Ireland's Rob Kearney will discover the extent of his injury when he undergoes a scan later today.

The full-back sustained a gluteal strain during the 44-10 win over Romania at Wembley in the Rugby World Cup yesterday evening.

Coach Joe Schmidt has already expressed optimism over Kearney's availability for the team's next fixture, but the team will know more after the scan, which will take place at the team's Guildford training base this afternoon.

The Six Nations champions play again on Sunday, when they take on Italy at the Olympic Stadium.
