Jenkins: Farrell is like Wilkinson

Wales assistant coach Neil Jenkins has claimed that he can see many similarities between Owen Farrell and Jonny Wilkinson.

Farrell, 20, has been praised for his kicking displays so far in the Six Nations, with the points from his boot proving vital against both Italy and Scotland, and Jenkins believes the youngster is a lot like the World Cup-winning Wilkinson.

"Owen is obviously an outstanding talent, and he has got a good coach there with his father Andy," Jenkins said. "He reminds me a lot of a young Jonny Wilkinson.

"When Jonny first stepped up at international level, he was a centre, as Owen is at this moment in time.

"Maybe in the long run, Owen might end up being a 10, so there are a lot of similarities. He is a very good goalkicker and a very good player."

Jenkins was the first player in international rugby history to pass 1,000 points, while his then-world record total of 1,090 points was first passed by Wilkinson himself.
