Geoff Parling: 'England must put things right'

England lock Geoff Parling tells Sports Mole that the team need to "put things right" following their exit from the Rugby World Cup.

Geoff Parling has insisted that England need to "put things right" following their exit from the Rugby World Cup at the pool stage of the tournament.

Stuart Lancaster's side are the first host nation to fail to reach the knockout stage of the competition, but they ended their campaign with a 60-3 win over Uruguay in their final match in Pool A at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester.

The Exeter Chiefs lock told Sports Mole: "It was exactly as we thought it would be. They were fighting, they put up a good fight, certainly in defence and on the rucks, but then eventually we put them away and that's what's happened. Full credit to the Uruguayan team, their fight was outstanding. They showed a lot of passion.

"[The fans] were absolutely brilliant. When we got off the bus they were all there. After a very, very, very, very tough week, it was certainly nice to see. I enjoyed it, I'm a Northerner myself so it was easy for my family to get across. I thought it was a good idea, I think we'd like to see a few more games [outside London].

"I certainly think that there a hell of a lot of good things that have gone on over the last few years, but we've underperformed and we've let ourselves down. I'm sure they'll do a review and speak to everyone and try and put things right."

England scored 10 tries in their final match, with Nick Easter and Jack Nowell both finishing with hat-tricks.
