Alex Corbisiero: Sam Burgess has "big chance" of earning World Cup spot

Corbisiero backs Burgess for World Cup inclusion

Alex Corbisiero has suggested that England teammate Sam Burgess has put himself firmly in the thoughts of Stuart Lancaster due to his performance against France.

The rugby league convert was handed his Red Rose debut in the narrow win at Twickenham last weekend.

Many have tipped Burgess to claim a place in England's final 31-man squad for the showpiece tournament, with loosehead prop Corbisiero the latest to offer his backing.

"I think he had a great game," the 26-year-old told Sports Mole. "I'm sure there is plenty more to come from him, but it was certainly exciting to see him in an England shirt and imposing himself on that stage.

"He has been a tremendous guy to have around; a real influence and someone I can count as my friend. I think he has got a big chance of being involved."
