Eddie Jones looking forward to England "project" after being named head coach

Eddie Jones says that he is looking forward to the "project" ahead of him as England's new head coach.

England's new head coach Eddie Jones has claimed that he is looking forward to pushing the team forward after replacing Stuart Lancaster.

The Australian, who has had international coaching spells with the Wallabies, South Africa and Japan, signed a four-year contract with the Rugby Football Union on Friday morning.

Coaching changes were made by the RFU after the Red Rose failed to progress past the pool stage of the World Cup under Lancaster.

"It's a very exciting opportunity," Jones told reporters. "A hugely talented team, England have won two of the last three under-20 World Cups so there's great talent out there. I'm looking forward to the project ahead of us.

"Over the next six to eight weeks I'll be watching games, assessing talent. You have got understood what you're good at and what you want to improve."

Jones's first game in charge will be England's Six Nations opener against Scotland at Murrayfield.
