Joe Launchbury given two-week ban for kicking an opponent

England will be without first-choice lock Joe Launchbury for their upcoming games against Argentina and Australia after he was handed a two-week ban.

England lock Joe Launchbury will miss his side's remaining Autumn Internationals after being handed a two-week ban for kicking centre Asaeli Tikoirotuma during Saturday's win over Fiji.

The 25-year-old was yesterday cited for the incident, which took place just two minutes into the Red Rose's 58-15 victory, and warned that further punishment could follow.

Launchbury admitted his offence at a disciplinary hearing earlier today, with the committee accepting that the kick was reckless rather than intentional, passing down a four-week suspension which is reduced to half thanks to his guilty plea and a previously clean record.

England must now make do without their first-choice lock for their remaining end-of-year friendlies against Argentina and Australia, as head coach Eddie Jones aims to make it an unbeaten first full year in charge.

George Kruis will likely be called upon alongside Courtney Lawes for Saturday's meeting with Argentina at Twickenham, having overcome a troublesome ankle injury.
