Debbie Jevans was reportedly handed a six-figure payoff following her announcement to stand down as chief executive of England Rugby 2015.
The 54-year-old, who took up the position in 2012, made the surprising decision last week just six months before the World Cup gets underway.
It is claimed by the Daily Mail that Rugby Football Union bosses handed over a sum of around £150,000 to the departing chief, suggesting that the choice to step down was a mutual agreement between both parties.
Jevans is said to have been paid around £250,000 a year during her time in the role, although a breakdown in her relationship with the RFU high command of Ian Ritchie and Bill Beaumont paved the way for last Friday's resignation.
