Dylan Hartley backs Manu Tuilagi, Denny Solomona to earn England recalls

Dylan Hartley challenges Manu Tuilagi and Denny Solomona to prove their worth to England boss Eddie Jones after being sent home early from last week's training camp.

England skipper Dylan Hartley has urged Manu Tuilagi and Denny Solomona to get their heads down and fight for a recall to Eddie Jones's squad.

The pair were sent home from the Red Rose's training camp last week for breaking the strict code of conduct, which is understood to be alcohol related.

Hartley insists that their England careers are not over just yet, however, as they can still force their way into Jones's plans by proving their worth on the field in the coming weeks and months.

"We're a team and as a team we set our own standards off the field," he told PA. "And ultimately those guys let us down in that area.

"We're a team and we've got a code of conduct that we adhere to. The team dealt with it and I'm sure those players will have their heads down and be working hard now to get back in the picture. Because they are good players, and both of them are worth having in your side.

"It's unfortunate for them, but you make decisions, you've got to live with those decisions, and that's that," said Hartley. But like I said, they are two valuable guys, so I know the type of characters they are, they'll be out there working hard and will be wanting a big start to the season just like the rest of us."

Tuilagi has made one appearance under Jones, while rugby league convert Solomona was used for the first time in the recent tour of Argentina.
