England target foreign coach to partner Martin Johnson

England are believed to be searching for an overseas coach to work alongside Martin Johnson.

England boss Martin Johnson may be forced to drop to a redefined managerial role in order to work alongside an overseas head coach, according to the Daily Mail.

Speculation over the Leicester lock has been rife since England crashed out of the World Cup last month.

Despite talk of being sacked, recent reports have suggested that the 41-year-old will remain with the national side in some capacity.

The England hierarchy are believed to be undergoing a worldwide search for a new coach, with former Italy and South Africa coach Nick Mallett being the favourite to take the role.

Jake White and ex-All Blacks wing John Kirwan are also being tipped as contenders for the managerial job.
