England fall to sixth in world rankings

England will drop to sixth in the world later today when the International Rugby Board publishes the updated world rankings.

The damning drop follows Saturday's dramatic 19-12 Twickenham defeat to Wales, who move up to fifth.

The news will provide sobering thoughts for new Rugby Football Union chief executive Ian Ritchie.

England need to be ranked in the top four by the end of the year in order to be seeded at the 2015 World Cup, which they are due to host.
