England star Danny Cipriani arrested in Jersey following nightclub incident

Jersey Police announce that England and Gloucester Rugby fly-half Danny Cipriani has been charged with common assault after an incident at a Saint Helier nightclub.

England international Danny Cipriani has been arrested and charged with common assault following an incident at a nightclub in Jersey.

The 30-year-old is also charged with resisting arrest, common assault, larceny and being disorderly on licensed premises, Jersey Police announced on Wednesday.

Cipriani, who plies his trade for Premiership side Gloucester Rugby, has been remanded in custody and will appear at Jersey Magistrates' Court on Thursday morning.

"This morning, 30-year-old Daniel Cipriani was charged with common assault, larceny, assault on police, resisting arrest and disorderly on licensed premises," read a police statement.

"He has been remanded in custody until a court appearance at magistrates court at 10am tomorrow (Thursday)."

Gloucester also published a statement on Wednesday, which read: "Gloucester Rugby are very aware of an incident involving Danny Cipriani in the early hours of Wednesday morning following an incident at a Saint Helier nightclub. He was arrested and has since been charged.

"The club will be issuing no further comment at this time but will make a further announcement in due course."

Cipriani, who moved to Gloucester from fellow Premiership club Wasps in the summer, has played 16 times for England since his international debut in 2008.
