Former British Lions star Mark Cueto has called for Danny Cipriani to be given an England recall five years after he was last involved in the Test fold.

Cipriani has enjoyed a fine season and scored 28 individual points for Sale Sharks last Friday as they beat Oyonnax 53-14 in the Amlin Cup.

Cueto told Manchester Evening News: "England have got to pick Danny. If he carries on like he is right now they can't ignore him.

"We all know what Danny Cipriani can do in terms of that he's a maverick and will try things that nobody else will try.

"If he can continue that which he is doing, that edge which he does have means he can offer things which very few other guys can."

Cipriani, 26, has won seven caps for England.
