Mike Ford: 'Bath can play better'

Bath director of rugby Mike Ford admits that his side were not "playing as well as they can" in their Aviva Premiership defeat to Northampton Saints.

Mike Ford has admitted that Bath Rugby were not "playing as well as they can" in their defeat to Northampton Saints in the Aviva Premiership.

The home side were beaten 13-11 at the Recreation Ground this afternoon, leaving the team with four defeats in their last five league matches.

The club's director of rugby told BBC Sport: "We lost to a very experienced Northampton side. We are not playing as well as we can.

"Today we were on the wrong end of the scrum. The game is too much in the influence of the referee guessing at scrum-time."

The result leaves Bath ninth in the table, eight points off the top four.
