Rob Simmons handed eight-week ban for tip tackle

Rob Simmons has been given an eight-week ban for a tip tackle in Australia's loss to France at the weekend.

The 23-year-old performed the illegal tackle on Yannick Nyanga.

The ban means that Simmons will have no further part in Australia's current tour of Europe, missing upcoming Tests against England, Italy and Wales.

The hearing into the incident stated that the tackle was at the "high end" of the International Rugby Board's scale of sanctions.

The lock can appeal the decision.
