The visitors suffered a big blow ahead of the match, when captain Gareth Ellis sustained a foot injury during the warm-up, ruling him out of the match.

A closely-fought first half saw the sides go into the break level, courtesy of tries from Kevin Sinfield and Joe Arundel.

However, the reigning league champions were too strong for Hull in the second half, adding another five tries to the score board to secure a comfortable 30-point win.

Sinfield was clinical with the boot, converting all six tries with ease.
