Gary Hetherington: 'Leeds Rhinos will not get carried away'

Gary Hetherington says that winning a clean sweep of trophies this season would be a "phenomenal achievement" for Leeds Rhinos.

Leeds Rhinos chief executive Gary Hetherington has declared that his side have already "surpassed expectations" this season.

The Loiners remain on course to claim a clean sweep of rugby league's domestic trophies following Friday night's 24-14 victory over St Helens in the Challenge Cup.

As well as remaining on course to reclaim the cup they lifted last year, Brian McDermott's men also finished top of the Super League table heading into the Super 8s to keep their campaign well alive.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Hetherington admitted that winning all three crowns would be a "phenomenal achievement" for the Yorkshire outfit.

"All the predictions from the media had us finishing no higher than fourth place so we've already surpassed expectations in that regard," he said.

"But we've certainly not surpassed our own expectations. We were always extremely confident this could be a successful season. For any team to do the treble would be a phenomenal achievement in this day and age at this level of competition.

"But, as Brian McDermott has pointed out, we've won nothing yet. We've just put ourselves in a good position and now we're coming to the crucial part of the season."

Leeds take on Warrington Wolves next Friday in their first Super 8s outing.
