Hull FC have returned to winning ways after seeing off Wakefield Trinity Wildcats with a slender 31-24 victory at the KC Stadium.
The visitors, themselves fresh on the back of ending a 14-game losing streak last time out, made a positive start as Matty Ashurst crossed the whitewash with just three minutes on the clock.
It took just two minutes for Hull to level things up, though, with Joe Westerman using the wet surface to carry him over the line, allowing Marc Sneyd to convert for his 200th Super League try.
Both sides continued to share the tries - Jordan Tansey running the length of the pitch to touch down for Wakefield, before Jack Logan crossed over for his first of the season moments later.
Jacob Miller successfully split the sticks from his penalty attempt on the half-hour mark to put Wakey four points to the good, but once more Lee Radford's out-of-form side hit back through Steve Michaels on the end of a swift attacking move.
Sneyd had been off target with a previous conversion, yet there was no mistake when it came to booting over a penalty deep into the first half to put the home side into the lead.
That advantage stretched further when Logan pounced on a loose ball for his second of the game, shortly before Reece Lyne himself crossed the line to ensure the game remained tight for its duration.
Jordan Rankin and Tom Johnstone both finished off decent team moves for their respective sides to continue the theme, before some superb link-up play between Logan and Michael saw the latter cross over once more.
There was still time for Sneyd to add a drop-goal to his personal tally to make sure of things, securing a much-needed win for the Black and Whites.
