Kirk Yeaman has targeted a run of consistent performances for Hull FC when the new Super League season gets underway, as he attempts to earn a new contract at the club.

The 31-year-old's place in the side is under real threat from Steve Michaels and England international Jack Logan, with his current contract due to expire at the end of this year.

As the competition heats up, Yeaman acknowledges that he is now fighting for his future under coach Lee Radford.

"I am playing for a deal now and my aim is to perform week in, week out and earn that deal," he told the Hull Daily Mail. "I don't want to go anywhere else, I want to stay here and earn the right to be here. That's my goal, to get a new deal.

"I want to play every game. I'm not getting any younger. The old saying is that you're a long time retired so I just want to play as many games as I can and look forward to the season.

"I'm looking to cement a place in the team and show that I deserve to be here. Not just in my position, but competition for places is so hot this year and it can only bring out the best in you. I feel like I've gone well in pre-season and I'm ready to fight for my place."

Hull begin their campaign away at Huddersfield Giants in two weeks' time.
