Hull FC prop Mark O'Meley announces retirement due to knee injury

Hull prop Mark O'Meley announces his retirement from rugby due to a knee injury.

Hull FC prop Mark O'Meley has announced his retirement from the game due to a knee injury.

The 32-year-old has been forced to call it quits due to the problem that he suffered during last month's Challenge Cup final defeat to Wigan Warriors.

"It's a premature ending but it's good to be able to say my last game was at Wembley in a big final with a good bunch of guys and all the Hull fans behind us," O'Meley told the club's official website.

O'Meley planned to retire at the end of the season but came to the decision after scans ruled that the prop's injury would keep him sidelined for the campaign.
