Halifax RLFC lifted by Leigh Centurions win

Halifax RLFC draw level on points with Leigh Centurions in the Super League Qualifiers courtesy of a 34-12 triumph at The Shay.

Halifax RLFC picked up their first win of the Super League Qualifiers by beating Leigh Centurions 34-12 at The Shay.

Dave Manning was the first to cross over for the home team in a one-sided first half, racing 60 metres after collecting a loose ball to open the scoring.

The returning Ross Divorty was the next player to add his name to the scoresheet, touching down to capitalise on Fax's early dominance.

Steve Tyrer added further points from the boot, just moments before James Saltonstall found a way over in the corner for the third try of the afternoon.

Despite being 20-0 down at the break, it looked to be game on once more when Adam Higson and Martyn Ridyard crossed the whitewash within nine minutes of the restart for Centurions.

Two quick-fire tries from Halifax, the first from Scott Murrell and the second from Tyrer, put the bottom-placed side well back on their way, though, with Tyrer adding to his tally thanks to another penalty.

That proved to be the end of the scoring, lifting Halifax level on points with their opponents in the league table.
