Frankel could withdraw at Ascot

Frankel's racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe has revealed that a decision will be made on Saturday morning as to whether the unbeaten colt will run at Ascot.

The ground at Ascot is currently soft, heavy in places and that has cast doubt over Frankel's appearance with none of his 13 wins coming in such conditions.

Grimthorpe said: "The intention is to run if we can. We will look at it in the morning. It depends obviously what happens.

"What I have always said is that as long as we are happy the ground is safe for Frankel that will be our call."

Frankel is ranked as the world's number one horse and if allowed to race will begin as a huge odds-on favourite to maintain his unbeaten record.
