McNamara 'could undergo surgery today'

Irish jockey JT McNamara is reportedly in line to undergo surgery after sustaining a neck injury on day three of the Cheltenham Festival.

The 37-year-old has been put in an induced coma following his first-fence fall from Galaxy Rock in the Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup.

It is understood that McNamara, who was airlifted to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol, could have an operation today, according to Sky Sports News.

Organisers postponed racing for 30 minutes following the incident.
