Our 2025 SBK review gives you all the info you need on this quality bookmaker: sports betting, bonuses, mobile, payments, customer service and more. We’ve also completed our SBK app review to show you how to bet on the move.

Pros

Integrated price comparison tool – check out SBK’s odds in comparison with other brands within the SBK interface
Competitive odds – not surprisingly given the above tool, SBK’s odds are healthy
Competitive bonus – the £50 in bonuses for betting £10 is rewarding

Cons

Relative lack of sports – all the major sports are there, up to 25, but some firms offer more
No casino – not a game changer for us, but some firms offer a bingo or casino site alongside sports

These are some of the areas we’ve looked into, along with how we rank them in our SBK review:

  • Betting offering: 8/10
  • Welcome bonus: 8/10
  • Website: 9/10
  • Mobile: 10/10
  • Payments: 8/10
  • Customer service: 9/10
  • Global note: 7/10

SBK review: Available sports betting options

At any given time, there are 25 sports to bet on with SBK. We’ve scouted around all sports and bet types to see how competitive and flexible they are.

Horse racing and football are the main focus. That’s true of most British sportsbooks in November 2025, let alone those with a betting exchange history. The number of markets within the focus sports is huge, while you can also bet on basketball, American football, rugby, tennis, cricket, boxing and more.

The bet builder makes customising your bets easy. Simply add various selections from the same game to one bet to create a multiple of your own making.

SBK betting review: Odds, limits & the overall betting experience

We can’t really fault the overall betting experience. Odds are competitive here. The brand is known for it, as they deliberately attempted to create a sportsbook featuring close to exchange-level odds.

Features exist to boost your play as well. We’ve already mentioned the bet builder, but even more important is the integrated price comparison tool which we’ll delve into in a moment.

A £4,999 monthly deposit limit is applied, with an auto-applied £1,000 daily net deposit limit for UK customers.

Live betting and the integrated price comparison tool

The live experience is good here. There is wide coverage on numerous sports, all featuring real-time odds updates as you’d expect. Visual match trackers also help you enjoy the action, even if you’re not able to watch on TV.

SBK customers can use the integrated price comparison tool daily. This is the ultimate in honest bookmaking, as it allows you to compare SBK to other bookies’ odds within the SBK interface. We love this.

The bottom line: You can’t get more honest than comparing your prices with other bookies live on your own site – a major tick in the ‘positive’ column.

SBK bookmaker review: The ‘new customer’ sign-up deal

When you first join up with SBK you can receive a bonus. Bet £10 to get £50 in free bets is a basic offer. You must deposit using a debit card or Trustly to qualify. Here are the main terms:

  • Minimum deposit is £10.
  • The minimum qualifying bet needed is £10 at odds of 1/1 (2.0) or more.
  • £50 free bets broken up into: £10 football bet builder token on settlement, £5 Multiple + £5 Horse Racing Multiple + two £5 Football Bet Builder tokens after 24 hours, two £5 Bet Builder tokens + two £5 Multiple tokens after 48 hours
  • Free bets expire after 7 days.

This is a nice deal, one we like a lot and one that generally compares well to the rival promos below. You won’t need an SBK promo code to join.

SBK bet review: Our experience of signing up

We used the mobile site to sign up, but the experience is essentially the same on the desktop site and the dedicated iOS and Android apps. The entire sign-up procedure only takes a couple of minutes. Here’s what you need:

  • Your full name, address, and date of birth.
  • Your email and a new username/password.
  • Your preferred payment method (we have an accepted list below).
  • Your limits and preferences.

Make sure to read the bonus T&Cs as you go along and accept it when prompted.

The bottom line: Sign-up at SBK is quick and easy, no matter how you choose – don’t forget your bonus.

SBK review: How good is the site and its interface?

SBK’s main website, mobile site, and app are all very simple to navigate. Stylish and modern, the platform has a dark aesthetic that looks very sleek and professional.

The homepage features the latest in-play betting and a chance to opt into running promos. From the menu, you can easily access all sports and other functionalities.

SBK mobile betting

SBK has both a fully functioning mobile browser site, and a free downloadable app. SBK reviews on both the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android) are overwhelmingly positive, which is a welcome sight and something we concur with.

SBK mobile site

The mobile site is a scaled-down version of the desktop site and functions similarly to the app. All functionality is there, including banking, customer service, promos and all bet options. The interface is great, and it works on all modern smartphones and tablets.

The SBK app

You can download the app for free from the App Store or Google Play. The entire platform has a mobile-first design so if anything, SBK works better on the move. The app is streamlined and once again features all functionality that SBK offers.

Payment methods: Mastercard, Visa, Trustly and more

There are no fees to pay when depositing and withdrawing at SBK. The brand offers a strong range of payment options, all being safe and secure with encryption used.

We’ve put together the full list of payment methods, limits and timings.

SBK review 2025: Customer service

One of the things SBK has got right is its customer service—not only in the quality once you speak to the team but also, importantly, in the number of ways you can make initial contact.

Be sure to have your account details and your full query ready. This gives the staff every chance to answer your questions first time around.

Contact options at SBK

To get in touch with the SBK team regarding any matters, you can do so via the following ways:

  • Email: [email protected]

  • Mail: 1 Commodity Quay, St. Katharine Docks, London, E1W 1AZ.

As we mentioned, the live chat system is the way to go. Available all day, this system allows you to get written answers to your queries in real time.

SBK review: Real user testimonials

Trustpilot users are almost always negative about betting sites. SBK’s score of 3.4/5 is pretty high. Here’s one positive and one negative comment from Trustpilot users:

“Best betting website going! Best odds! Even though you don’t get your stake back, they make up for it and more! Jack from CS was a pleasure to deal with!”

“Positive thing easy to set up. Negative: I deposited 10 pound Only to be told afterwards that I wasn’t entitled to the free bets also the 10 pound i deposited never went on my account”

App Store (iOS users)

Over on the App Store, SBK gets a very impressive 4.6 out of 5. Here are some selected comments:

“It’s refreshing to use a betting app that actually care about its users. I’ve used a lot of betting apps and most feel like they just want you to deposit and lose as quickly as possible. SBK actually feels different.”

“Firstly the odds aren’t amazing or anything special to draw you in. Secondly there aren’t half as many markets to bet on as there are from other betting apps such as Sky Bet, Coral or Bet MGM.”

For clarity, we can’t agree with the second comment here, but this is simply how the user saw it.

Google Play (Android users)

Android users follow suit, giving the app so far a huge 4.5 from 5.

“Probably the best betting site around. Quick withdrawals, helpful customer service instead of the painful back and forth I’ve had with other betting sites…. AND 90% of the time the odds are far better than other sites.”

“Unable to withdraw winnings to the payment source, which is eligible to be paid out that way. Amount is just over £200, not thousands. Have been told that there is an issue with withdrawing to that particular bank (which deals in millions of £’s a day) and “unfortunately” have to wait.”

Responsible gambling at SBK

There is a full, up to date responsible gambling policy on the SBK website. Head to the website footer and look for ‘Smarkets supports Responsible Gambling’.

If you’re no longer enjoying your betting or you find that you are chasing losses by betting too often after losing – simply stop now. We advise that you set yourself a daily, weekly or monthly betting budget and stick to it. Should you win, don’t be tempted to increase your bets straight away – you may end up back in the same situation quickly.

Help available at SBK

You can get help via the SBK website if you need it. Getting help for a potential problem doesn’t affect your rights as a customer.

You can set your own bet limits if you like. You can also read the responsible gambling policy for yourself, which offers some good advice. The site has links to:

  • GambleAware
  • GamStop
  • National Gambling Helpline

If you think you require help and would like to talk to someone, you can contact the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 802 0133. The line is open 24 hours a day and is free of charge.

SBK versus its main competitors: How does it compare?

We’re glad that every experience is different. In many ways there is no such thing as the best bookmaker, because they all offer something different. We test all brands thoroughly, noting the little differences.

We didn’t compare SBK to market-leading, fixed-odds brands such as bet365. We also didn’t compare it to other betting exchanges. Instead, we looked at some of the slightly smaller or ‘off the wall’ brands to see how they compare to this unique sportsbook.

Virgin Bet30+4.8 & 4.2Bet £10, get £20 in free betsThe wider Virgin brandBest odds guaranteed

10bet and Virgin perhaps have the edge when it comes to the number of sports offered, but everything else stacks up well for SBK. The bonus is good compared to the rest and it is unique given the exchange.

The 10bet sign up offer is a bonus match, worth £10 more in total, but you need to put in the full £50 to get that. The minimum deposit is higher too at £15, but even if you put that much in, you’d only get £15 from 10bet. The SBK offer is more customer-friendly.

The Virgin Bet sign up offer costs the same but is worth half as much as SBK. The free bets come in the shape of 2 x £10 bet tokens. This is a lower value bonus than SBK, though the minimum odds for the qualifying bet are only 1/2 (1.5). Bets must settle within 14 days.

The Tote sign up offer is just about the biggest, but only just. A £10 stake on a qualifying bet is needed to get the £50 in free bets. For your £10 bet at odds of 1/1 or bigger, you can claim £20 in Tote credit, a £10 sports bet, 2 x £5 accumulator free bets and even 50 free spins for the slots. This is a hard deal to beat, in truth.

The Planet Sport bet welcome offer is simply a money back deal if you lose. SBK stands out here. The latest bonus we saw was ‘bet £20 and get a £10 free bet’. Naturally, this is a lower overall amount than SBK, and it also returns only 50% of what you deposited, so it’s definitely less valuable. Once again, the minimum odds are 1/1 and you must use your £10 free bet within 14 days.

We haven’t compared SBK to another exchange, such as Betfair, as it’s better to see what can be offered versus other sportsbooks to see if more value is available.

SBK bet review: A history of the brand

The story begins with Smarkets, founded in London in 2008. Software and finance specialists Hunter Morris and Jason Trost began the journey to build a truly tech-driven peer-to-peer betting exchange.

The exchange launched in 2010 with a commission offered to its community at only 2%. The brand grew quickly, processing £14 billion in bets by 2019.

Given this experience, the brand entered the sportsbook market by 2019, offering fixed odds at nearly exchange-level prices.

SBK timeline

  • 2008 – Smarkets is founded in London.
  • 2010 – The first betting exchange platform goes live.
  • 2014 – The World Cup boosts trade dramatically due to rising matched betting prices.
  • 2016 – Turnover reaches £25m along with increased profits.
  • 2019 – SBK sportsbook app is launched.
  • 2020 – SBK launches in Colorado, USA and has prices listed on comparison sites.
  • 2022 – expansion continues in USA.

SBK review: Exchange level odds on a fine sportsbook

Overall, I have only really positive things to say based on my experience in early November 2025. From the top: sign-up was quick and easy, as was getting the bonus, which stands up well compared to SBK’s main competitors.

The interface is sleek and professional. That dark aesthetic eliminates unnecessary ‘laddish’ marketing or kitsch colour schemes, which was my preference.

Given the full licence, their Maltese base and their USA expansion, SBK is now global, and it shows. They are a trustworthy brand.

I did like the features here. The integrated odds comparison tool, as is the live betting section and the bet builder tool, are outstanding. Odds are competitive, a key feature of the brand, and we cannot underestimate its importance.

Gimmicks are fine, but competitive odds are what we really want. It’s not a surprise that SBK offers this, mind you, when they are willing to let you compare odds with other brands on their own interface. There’s a lot to be said for that.
