Qatar 'paying migrant workers to pose as fans'

Qatar are reportedly paying migrant workers to pose as fans in an attempt to make sporting events appear more popular in the country.

A report in the Daily Mail claims that the World Cup 2022 hosts are offering to pay thousands of 'supporters' around 60p an hour.

It is alleged that workers from Ghana, Kenya and Nepal will attend football, volleyball and handball events dressed in white robes and headscarves in order to resemble a Qatari fanbase.

Human rights group Amnesty International last month criticised Qatar World Cup chiefs for their treatment of migrant workers, claiming that conditions remain "inexcusable".
