Police accidentally leave fake 'bomb' at Molineux before Wolves' promotion party

Police officers reportedly accidentally left a fake 'bomb' at Molineux before Wolves' League One title triumph over Carlisle on May 3.

West Midlands Police are reportedly investigating an incident that resulted in a fake 'bomb' being left at Molineux ahead of Wolverhampton Wanderers' promotion party.

Police officers are said to have left the imitation device in an executive box at the ground during a training exercise prior to Wolves' 3-0 win over Carlisle United on May 3.

According to the Express & Star, fans were evacuated from the executive box in the Steve Bull Stand after supporters made officials aware of the device, but 30,000 fans celebrating the club's League One title glory were oblivious to the situation.

Chief executive Jez Moxey has reportedly claimed that the club expressed their concerns to the police in the "strongest manner possible".

The newspaper has also revealed that the match could have been delayed or called off due to the incident.
