Walsall tweet blasts "six-fingered, inbred" Wolverhampton Wanderers

Walsall's official Twitter account has posted a message this evening goading Wolverhampton Wanderers following their 1-0 win at Molineux.

The Saddlers earned a 1-0 win in the local derby tonight thanks to a header from captain Andy Butler, breaking a run of five successive wins in League One from Kenny Jackett's promotion favourites.

Shortly after the victory a tweet was sent out by Walsall's @WFCOfficial account, labelling their Midlands rivals "inbred, dingle bastards".

The post, which has since been removed, read: "Better look next time you six fingered, inbred dingle bastards. YOU'VE LET US DOWN AGAIN."

A tweet which immediately preceded that message is still visible, which read: "Robert Plant, Noddy Holder, Suzi Perry, Rachel Heyhoe-Flint, Mark from Sam & Mark... Your boys took one 'ell of a beating."

Walsall have since released an official statement apologising for any offence caused by the post, claiming that their Twitter account was hacked shortly after the full-time whistle.

The statement read: "WALSALL FC would like to apologise for some unsavoury comments which appeared on our Official Twitter feed earlier this evening after the account was hacked."
