Sunderland to have 'Nelson Mandela Day'

Sunderland will have a 'Nelson Mandela Day' when Manchester United visit the Stadium of Light this season, following the club's partnership with the Nelson Mandela Foundation.

The North-East Premier League outfit have joined up with the organisation created in the name of the anti-apartheid activist as part of their sponsorship deal with Invest In Africa.

"There is no more iconic figure in the world today than Nelson Mandela," vice-chairman David Miliband told the club's official website. "His values of equality, justice and reconciliation are the inspiration to millions and this partnership is a wonderful symbol for Sunderland in Africa and a huge honour for our football club."

The Black Cats will dedicate the March 30 fixture to the foundation.
