Sessegnon 'punished for speeding'

Sunderland forward Stephane Sessegnon has reportedly been hit with three points on his driving licence after being caught speeding.

The 29-year-old is believed to have been caught driving at 37mph in a 30mph zone on January 30 in East Boldon.

Sessegnon failed to appear at South Tyneside Magistrates' Court yesterday, but instead sent in a letter, which is quoted by the Shields Gazette as saying: "I didn't realise my speed was over the limit until after. When I realised, I reduced it. Please accept that it was a genuine error."

The court also fined Sessegnon £60.
