Sunderland's David Meyler ordered to pay £1,000 after getting caught speeding

Meyler fined £1,000 for speeding

Sunderland midfielder David Meyler has been fined £1,000 and been given six points on his driving licence after he was caught speeding.

The 23-year-old was clocked doing 50mph in a 30mph zone by a speed camera near Barnes Park in the North East in April.

The Irishman, who is currently on loan at Hull City, failed to answer a letter sent to him requesting a £60 fixed fine, which caused the Sunderland Magistrates' Court to get involved.

The court revealed that the sum was arranged after determining one week of the midfielder's monthly income.
