Lord Alan Sugar tweet caused Tottenham Hotspur confusion?

Sugar tweet caused Spurs confusion?

Former Tottenham Hotspur owner Lord Alan Sugar has been accused of being the source of an incorrect scoreline, which led Spurs fans to think that their club would qualify for the Champions League.

'The Apprentice' star, who has more that three million followers, tweeted that Arsenal were being held at Newcastle United, when the Gunners were actually leading 1-0.

He added later: "Massive roar in crowd at [White Hart Lane] and people said 1-1. No mobile signal in directors box assumed was correct."

The rumours of a 1-1 scoreline led to Tottenham fans at the game believing that Gareth Bale's goal against Sunderland would secure the team a place in the top four of the Premier League.
