Joshua, Kane up for BBC SPOTY award
Anthony Joshua and Harry Kane are among 12 nominees for 2017 BBC Sports Personality of the Year.

World heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua and Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane have made the shortlist for BBC Sports Personality of the Year.

Twelve members of the sporting world have been nominated for the 2017 gong, which will be presented to the winner on December 17 in Liverpool.

Four-time Olympic champion Mo Farah is on the shortlist following his retirement from the track, while Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton is also up for the award.

Britain's number one tennis star Johanna Konta also finds herself in contention for the award, which was won by three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray last year.

The Scotsman, who recently welcomed his second child, has not been included in the shortlist this year as his season was largely hampered by injury problems.

Elise Christie - Short Track Speed Skating
Mo Farah - Athletics
Chris Froome - Cycling
Lewis Hamilton - F1
Anthony Joshua - Boxing
Harry Kane - Football
Johanna Konta - Tennis
Jonnie Peacock - Para-athletics

The winner will be decided by public vote.
