Sheffield Wednesday fan 'hit with three-year ban for throwing tangerine'

A Sheffield Wednesday supporter is handed a three-year ban from attending football matches after throwing a tangerine at a Fulham fan.

A Sheffield Wednesday supporter has been issued with a three-year ban from attending football matches after throwing a tangerine at a rival fan during a game.

Mark Ablett was escorted from Craven Cottage by stewards after CCTV footage showed the 29-year-old throwing the fruit during his side's 4-0 defeat to Fulham on December 20.

According to The Metro, Mr Ablett told Hammersmith Magistrates' Court: "I may have been stupid and thrown a tangerine or something."

The supporter, who works as a charity financial officer, was also fined £360.
