Real Madrid open an academy in India to provide children with sporting activities and academic support.

Real Madrid have opened a social-athletic academy in the town of Nazareth, Tiruchirapalli in Kerala, India.

The Spanish giants have launched the initiative as part of the Real Madrid Foundation and the City of Hope and Happiness Foundation in a bid to provide sporting activities and academic support to children.

The St Thomas Social-Athletic Academy will welcome 126 boys and 74 girls aged between 10 and 13 to the centre twice a week, as well as offer English and maths lessons, according to Goal.com.

It has been claimed that the academy will try to organise matches between local schools every three or six months.
