The father of Newcastle United full-back Danny Simpson has been arrested after allegedly threatening the life of the player's pregnant ex-girlfriend Stephanie Ward.
Peter Samms was arrested by the authorities on suspicion of making threats at the home that Ward and Simpson previously shared.
The incident comes after Simpson's former partner accused The X Factor judge Tulisa Contostavlos, who is now dating the Magpies player, of being a homewrecker.
Ward and Simpson already have a daughter together and it has been alleged that the full-back's former flame is pregnant with the couple's second child.
Samms, who has been charged with a public order offence, is due to appear at Manchester Magistrates' Court on December 18.
