Pavel Srnicek remains in induced coma

Former Newcastle United goalkeeper Pavel Srnicek remains in an induced coma following a cardiac arrest.

Former Newcastle United goalkeeper Pavel Srnicek remains in an induced coma after suffering a heart attack.

The 47-year-old was left in a critical condition having collapsed while running near his home in the Czech Republic on Sunday.

Doctors are still monitoring the former international's progress, although tests this afternoon showed no signs of improvement in his condition.

"I'm afraid there is no change in Pavel Srnicek's condition today. It is still very much a waiting game. We cannot go into details at this time," said his agent Steve Wraith in a statement.

"His brother Milan has asked me to thank the football fans and players from around the world who have been sending their best wishes. The family have read the reports from the UK coverage that we have sent them and it has helped them greatly."

Srnicek also played for Sheffield Wednesday, Portsmouth and West Ham United during his time in England.
