Nike make spelling mistake on Papiss Cisse's boots

Nike make Cisse spelling mistake

Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse has been presented with a pair of football boots by manufacturer Nike wrongly spelling his surname as 'Sisse'.

Cisse had his name mispronounced in a similar fashion by Newcastle's director of football Joe Kinnear earlier this summer.

The mistake came to light yesterday after Cisse's teammate Sammy Ameobi posted a picture on Twitter of the striker's boot, which came with the surname 'Sisse' embossed on the side in a bold, black font.

Ameboi accompanied the image with a message reading: "Well that's awkward... #sisse."

The 28-year-old's Nike Hypervenom phantom boots retail at a starting price of £160, without added personalisation.

Cisse is expected to make his pre-season bow for the Magpies against St Mirren tonight after ending a stand-off over the club's new shirt sponsor, pay-day loan company Wonga.
