Newcastle United to hold minute's silence for flight MH17 crash victims

Newcastle United will pay tribute to two supporters who died in the Malaysia Airlines MH17 crash by holding a minute's silence before their match against Man City.

Newcastle United have revealed that a minute's silence will be held to honour the memory of two supporters who perished in the recent crash of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17.

John Alder, 63, and Liam Sweeney, 28, were two of 298 people on board the flight which plummeted to the ground in Eastern Ukraine last month.

The duo, who were well known by other fans and manager Alan Pardew, were on their way to New Zealand to watch the Magpies on their pre-season tour.

A minute's silence will be observed prior to Newcastle's Premier League opening clash against Manchester City on August 17.
