Mike Ashley gives away £2.4m in coats to Newcastle United fans

Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley is to give away £2.4m worth of coats to fans after the Magpies defeated West Ham United on Saturday afternoon.

The businessman had pledged to reward fans with a winter coat worth £59.99 from his company Sports Direct if the struggling side overcame the Hammers at St James' Park.

Goals from Ayoze Perez and Georginio Wijnaldum were enough to seal all three points on the day and lift Steve McClaren's charges out of the Premier League relegation zone, with Sports Direct later clarifying details of the offer on Facebook.
