Morocco international Amine Harit has been involved in a fatal car crash in Marrakech.

According to The Mirror, the 21-year-old, who was driving a French-registered Mercedes shortly after midnight on Friday, collided with a pedestrian who was trying to cross a busy road.

The newspaper says that the 28-year-old man, who was walking in bad visibility, later died due to his injuries.

Local police allegedly confiscated Harit's passport, before the 21-year-old gave a statement and was released pending further investigations into the accident.

Harit was voted the Bundesliga's Rookie of the Year last season after scoring three goals and assisting seven others in 31 appearances for Schalke 04.
